Item Description
A very small, English copper saucepan with a pouring spout and a turned wooden handle. This type of pan is often referred to as a brandy pan but, if you look at the Benham’s catalogues from the 19th century, they are simple catalogued as saucepans. This example is particularly small and quite charming. It is well made, from a substantial gauge of copper, and it has castellated seams around the base and up the side. It dates from c.1860. The handle is stamped “1.2” which refers to its half pint capacity. The handle is nicely turned from rosewood and the piece is in very good condition. The interior is quite dark but it could still be used occasionally.
Dimensions: Diameter of pan 9cm. Depth of pan 6.5cm. Overall length of pan and handle 22cm.
