Item Description

A small, Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip jug. This is marked ”WEDGWOOD ENGLAND” and it dates from c.1900. There are also a couple of very small, indistinct, impressed marks. This shape of jug was catalogued by Wedgwood, in the 19th century, as the “Etruscan” shape. The body of the jug is decorated, in white relief, with a continuous band of classical figures, trees and foliage which include a subject known as The Cupid Seller. The reliefs are good quality and the jasper dip is a very deep shade of blue. The piece is in excellent condition.
