Item Description
An unusual pair of large, brass tweezers. I am told that these were for putting tapers into the fire but I am not totally convinced of this. Whatever their purpose, and I am quite open to speculation on this, they are very well made. They are cast in brass, with the tweezer end in the shape of a boot, and they have a large copper hook so that they can hang. They are French, date from c.1880, and are in excellent condition.
