Item Description
A fine and large, 19th century, Wedgwood black basalt figure of Bacchus and the Faun. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1860. It is also impressed with the name of the figure “FAUN AND BACCHUS” but the F has not been properly impressed. The form of the figure is quite exceptional, with superb attention to detail, showing the rippling muscles of Bacchus’s body and fine details to the facial features and hair of both characters.
It is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Height 44cm. Width 19cm. Depth 18cm.
