Item Description
A late nineteenth century, Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip butter tub, cover and stand. Both the tub and stand are marked “WEDGWOOD ETRURIA ENGLAND” and it dates from c.1895. There are also some small, impressed workman’s marks and the pot is impressed with the number ”4” which relates to the size in inches. The tub is decorated, in white relief, with a continuous band of classical figures, trees and foliage, the lid has four different classical scenes all including cherubs or putti, and the stand has a border of grapes and vines. All the reliefs are good quality and the jasper dip is a very deep, rich shade of blue. All three parts are in excellent condition.
