Item Description
A Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip Portland vase. This is marked “WEDGWOOD ETRURIA” and it dates from c.1845. This impressed mark was only used from 1840 to 1845. The vase is decorated, in white relief, with the standard reliefs which adorn the Portland vases which were copies of the Roman Barberini glass vase. Wedgwood, through their history, have made Portland vases in a huge variety of sizes and colours and this is a good example. The reliefs are all very good quality and the jasper dip is a rich shade of blue. There are very small patches on the foot where the dip glaze has not fully covered the white body but the vase is in excellent condition.
