Item Description
A fantastic Antique Stockman of Paris Mannequin presented with a vintage B J Simmons of Covent Garden London Theatrical Dress Coat.
The Mannequin made by the highly respected Stockman of Paris is manufactured in Papier Mache on a wood frame, padded and covered in fabric stamped on the Torso with the makers name and model number 30247. The Torso is mounted on an adjustable Ebonised Hand turned wooden tripod Stand. This is adjusted by a Turn key embossed Stockman, Paris. Presented in a good solid condition with just a few water marks on the Torso commensurate with the age circa 1900
The Dress Coat tailored by B J Simmons & co 1&8 King street Covent Garden London some time before 1930 ( name changed after this time) produced mainly in a Wool type material with gilded wire threads. The Coat does show signs of wear as would be expected by use and age. The company ceased operations in 1964 but has exhibits in the V&A Museum, University of Bristol and the Harry Ransom centre
