Item Description
A fine example of an early folk art armchair.
This chair was probably put together by the estate carpenter or farmer using wood and pieces obtained from the other older furniture which was no longer in use.
The construction seems to be of all pegged joints- the sliding lid on the seat was quite common to this type of chair and was used for storage.
We believe the lid to the seat to not be the original but added later.
The style of the chair is that typical of those found on the Welsh border of this period.
Seat height: 42cm
