Item Description
One of the most beautiful column pedestals we've seen - the detail and quality is just outstanding. It's signed Guelfi which is a European casting & sculpting workshop which specialised in Neoclassical garden ornaments from the C19th onwards and the patina on this one suggests that it has plenty of authentic age. It also has the model number 923 on the base.
This is heavily influenced by classical design with the layered acanthas leaves, laurel wreath garlands and classical figures around the base. The deep detailing would look amazing in natural light - this is a piece that would work in the home or garden.
There is a small chip to one corner as shown in the picture.
