Item Description
A trio of hand painted, framed, oil on board panels.
All based on Indian artwork from the 18th Century. One depicting a serene scene of women bathing near a lotus pond. One depicting the famous Utka Nayika, a heroine awaiting her lover in the forest. The largest panel is characteristic of Mughal School style art, depicting a historical hunting scene which incorporates detailed figures, animals and intricate border patterns.
Beautiful as a backdrop to a bed - presiding gently over the room like a painted sky, best hung lower than instinct suggests so it feels embraced by the space rather than floating above it. An entry hall with a good run of wall is a gift - it's the first thing you see and an image that lingers.
The gap between panels matters more than you expect. Too wide and the eye loses the thread; too close and the work becomes claustrophobic. Somewhere between 3 and 6 centimetres tends to feel considered — a breath, not a break.
This unique artwork is a statement piece from our collection to yours.
