A late 19th Century Indian Rajasthan lidded marriage or dowry box. Hand painted with Mughal court scenes, original iron lock to the end and carrying handle on the top.

The box is made of wood and painted with a black background, gold/yellow accents, yellow, white and red flowers, and stunning painted figures of women and men. The figures of women are probably of the bride and her bridesmaids and the man the groom. Remains of red stain to the interior.
