'A PRESENT FROM A FRIEND'
An early C20th BARGEWARE teapot- MEASHAM WARE pottery, treacle glazed with applied clay decoration
Working canal boatmen ordered these as they drove along the Ashby Canal in the East Midlands.
They would then collect their order on their next journey on the canal.
These teapots were often given as Wedding or Sweetheart presents
Condition:
No cracks in the teapot
Antique 'Strap' at the base of handle, image 10
No chips underneath, just blobs of glaze, image 10
Two cracks at the rim, images 11 & 12
The tiny 'teapot' on the lid has restoration to the spout and handle, images 6 & 13
