Item Description
A rare survivor, this Michelin Zig Zag tyres hardboard advertising sign remains complete with it's original Zig Zag bicycle tyre. I believe this piece dates to the 1950s. The relatively vulnerable nature of the hardboard means that there are few survivors, those that I have seen have all lost their outer tyre. This example came from the small village Garage / Hardware Store / Bicycle Shop that it was originally issued to. The rubber for the tyre has started to harden / perish a little and the hardboard has a slight bow / curve along with some deterioration along the bottom edge, some slight fading and the addition of a sticker around the 'H' of Michelin. It can be hung using the original mounting hole in the upper middle of the insert and displays well. The sign is 66.5cm in diameter and around 4cm thick.
