Item Description
Eldorado Ice Cream is a brand that many may remember; amongst other outlets it was sold from box fronted tricycles and by cinema / theatre ushers.
The company first started in Liverpool in 1925 and grew to be one of the country's major ice cream brands, along with Walls and Lyons. In 1963 it was bought out by J. Lyons and the brand was incorporated into the Lyons Maid label.
This litho printed tin advertising sign is likely to date to the 1930s/'40s - simple and striking it uses the company's bold logo without the Polar Bear mascot seen in later advertising. Over the decades rust from the base metal has started to leach through the printed surface yellowing the white background and giving the piece an irreplaceable, vintage aesthetic.
Aside from the rusty discolouration the sign is in good order, it sits flat and displays well.
The sign measures 75.4cm wide x 51.5cm high
