Item Description
This litho printed, tin Radio Times sign was produced as part of their 'Look Before You Listen' advertising campaign which ran through the 1950s / '60s. This is one of the earlier signs, produced when the paper cost 2D (later ones show the price as 3D). Styled on the pre-Worboys road warning sign, the graphics are striking now and would have been all the more so when that hazard warning triangle was common place on the road side! These tin signs were never as hard wearing as their enamel counter parts and generally these Radio Times signs are heavily scratched / dented / faded. This example is fairly straight and fairly clean in comparison to most. There are some areas of loss where the base metal shows through and some scratching through the black print layer at the bottom edge but there's minimal denting (see angled photo) and the colours remain strong. The sign measures 76cm high x 51cm wide and can be hung with ease using it's original mounting holes.
