19th Century French wallpaper panel mounted on canvas. Believed to be, A panorama with the Castle of Coca, Spain. Large grisaille scene depicting a view of the Castle, Mountains, and River at Coca, in the province of Segovia, Spain. The Castle of Coca is a Spanish fortress located in Coca, in the province of Segovia. It was built in the 15th century and is considered a major work of Spanish Mudéjar Gothic. Situated near the town, close to the Voltoya River, it is one of the few Spanish fortresses not located on a hillside, but on a fairly steep slope. A wide, deep moat surrounds the building. Its construction, attributed to Sevillian master builders, was carried out in the 15th century primarily in brick, used not only as a building material but also as a decorative element. Limestone appears in the arrow slits, the columns of the parade ground, and other decorative elements. Wallpaper in several strips mounted on linen canvas. Parisian manufacture, dated 1818 according to the Louvre Museum. A contemporary example is held at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Dimensions: 185 x 234 cm. The paper has age related wear as to be expected, it is perfect not being perfect !.
