A beautifully carved wooden chicken used to store salt,from the French region of pay’s de Savoie, typical of the region of beaufontaine haute savoie. This wood was perfect for the salt and would also never get woodworm. This chicken is unusually large as salt was such an expensive commodity in the 18th century.
