Item Description

Antique Circa 1880 Japanese Suiban Ikebana Jardinere Bronze Bowl Planter / Jardinière – Meiji Period, 19th Century

This exceptional Japanese bronze bowl planter, or jardinière, dates to the Meiji Period and exemplifies the artistry of late 19th Century Japanese craftsmanship.

Craftsmanship
Cast using the traditional lost wax technique, this piece also bears the maker’s mark on the base, which illustrates its provenance. Measuring an impressive 46 cm in length (including handles) x 31 cm in width x 13.5 cm in height (internal dimensions 42 cm x 27 cm x 10 cm), it is ideal for floral arrangements or bonsai displays. Its elegant form and fine detailing make it a striking addition to many settings.

Condition
The jardinière displays a beautiful patina and age-related character. While it has minor historic knocks and marks consistent with its age, it remains in very good antique condition overall. Please note it may not be watertight and should be lined if used for live plants.
