ANTIQUE BUREAU
A charming and handsome country made piece that is also a useful storage solution.
The fall front top opens onto a plain interior fitted with three small drawers, above a long single cockbeaded drawer and three shorter ones, all with turned wooden handles.
Raised on square chamfered legs and with a shaped apron to the front with fret carved decorative brackets.
Dating from the 18th century Georgian period.
Purchased in Shropshire on the English/Welsh border, so could quite easily be either English or Welsh in origin.
The bureau is in good vintage condition, it feels sturdy and the drawers run as they should. Obviously being a couple of hundred years old there is some wear throughout commensurate with age including some surface/cosmetic wear, old repairs and small losses but overall it displays well with a lovely, rich colour and patina. There is some old woodworm present which we have treated for good measure.
Approximate measurements: 79cm wide x 43cm deep x 109cm high.
