Item Description
RUSTIC WOODEN TOOLS OF FARMING INTEREST
A pair of hugely decorative, sculptural hand-carved farming forks in the primitive rustic style.
They would have originally been used in farming, possibly for hay but they also have a scooping element to them so could have been multi purpose.
Probably originating from Turkey or possibly Eastern Europe and dating from the early 20th century or possibly late 19th century. Circa 1900.
They could be wall mounted or alternatively work equally well leaned up against a wall or in a corner of a room.
The forks are in time worn, weathered condition with naturally worn patina throughout. They have been repaired over the years multiple times including with metal patches. We think these imperfections tell their story and add to their overall aesthetic. Although probably best not used as farming implements today, we are selling them as decorative objects.
Approximate measurements:
Taller and narrower - 152cm high x 20cm wide x 5cm deep.
Shorter and wider - 133cm high x 30cm wide x 5cm deep.
