Item Description
A vintage original pencil and charcoal study drawing after the original artwork by Honoré Daumier, French (1808-1879).
The original, which constitutes No. 3 of ‘Croquis Parisiens’ (Parisian Sketches) series which is titled 'LE PRÉVENU (bas à l'avocat). - “Tout ça a l'air d'ennuyer le Président, vous devriez bien lui dire de me renvoyer à mes affaires”..’ (‘THE DEFENDANT (down to the lawyer). - “All this seems to annoy the President, you should tell him to send me back to my business.”’).
Drawn in an accomplished way quickly and confidently to great effect.
Probably dating to the early to mid-20th century.
Framed and glazed in a simple black frame.
The drawing is in great vintage condition with no real damage and only very minimal wear consistent with age, the frame has some wear but nothing too serious.
Measuring 61.5cm x 51.5cm overall.
