Item Description
A grand scale rustic elm, long black painted sideboard, typical provincial style of the Gansu province in western China circa early 1900s.
It has a naked raw look with gently distressed original black patina. Most Chinese pieces have a lacquered finish, this one doesn’t, leaving an appealing organic, rustic and nuanced feel that suits most interiors.
Made using traditional Chinese joinery techniques with unassuming ring handles enhancing the simplicity of the design.
The balance and symmetry of the doors with open single shelving to the interior, either side of the two central drawers creates the perfect balance and proportions found in simple Chinese antique furniture.
This free-standing sideboard, blending antique character with functional design would make a perfect island or kitchen counter.
Strong, functional, and ready to use. An unusual and sought after piece.
