Item Description
Style: Stunning Victorian heavy brass revolving magazine rack by Hall & Sons in the late 19th century. This sturdy and stylish piece features 4 holders, a carry handle, and an elegant tripod base with majestic lion's paw feet. Stamped 'Hall'.
Story: Tracing their roots to the late 18th century, magazine racks — also known as 'Canterburys' — began as bespoke pieces commissioned by the Archbishop of Canterbury for organising sheet music and books. Over time, these foundational designs transformed into the familiar magazine holders of today. Hall and Sons were cabinet and brass manufacturers based in Birmingham (1877-1886).
