Item Description
Style: Attributed to Gaskell and Chambers of Birmingham, this robustly constructed oak table epitomises the classic 'tavern table' style. It exhibits clear Arts and Crafts influences, visible in its unusual stylised cross stretcher and strong, tapering 'matchstick' legs. Finished in a warm golden oak patina, its versatile design makes it an attractive addition to any room, functioning perfectly as a bedside or lamp table, or even as a compact dining spot for one. Circa 1910.
Story: Gaskell & Chambers was a Birmingham-based company specialised in the manufacture of pub tables and commercial furniture. They are renowned for producing quality, durable pieces—often combining oak and cast iron—primarily throughout the early to mid-20th century.
