Item Description
Style: A charming rustic early 19th century faux bamboo chair with a lovely aged patina, retaining its original decorative paint work. The frame boasts sturdy construction, though the wide, painted seat displays expected signs of its considerable age and use, including visible wear and some prior remedial repairs. In addition to the dimensions shown, the height of the seat is 38cm and the width of the back of the seat is 39cm
Story: Bamboo furniture was popular in Regency days, but its distinctive 'bamboo' components were typically simulated – wood turned, notched, and painted to resemble the plant. Later pieces, however, were made of actual bamboo.
