Item Description
Style: A characterful ceramic Pekingese, lovingly hand‑painted to capture the breed’s opulent coat. A playful, kitsch bow sits between its long, silky ears, while its plush, bushy tail sweeps proudly behind. Set on a stately blue pedestal, this charming figure celebrates the petite, sturdy little dog once beloved by Chinese royalty. Several small chips on bottom of the blue bases commensurate with age.
Story: Staffordshire ceramic Pekingese dogs are 19th-century English earthenware figures crafted in Staffordshire, primarily from the 1880s onward. These hand-painted, moulded decorations, often adorned with warm caramel glaze, were whimsical stand-ins for the more commonly depicted spaniel dogs.
