Early 20th Century Painted Canvas Paris Theatre Mask Mould
An unusual piece of early 20th century theatrical costume, recently obtained from a Paris (France) theatre collection early this month, the collector we obtained this from used to work at the picture house and said it was uncovered in the storage with some other theatre props, she was unsure of its exact use. Made from aged canvas and covered with a painted surface with aged touch ups repairs. A very fragile item that has stood the test of time. We feel this item is likely to be a mould of sorts, rather than a mask as the eyes are not cut out. We have been informed by the previous owner It was kept in a wood box (not present) to maintain its form over the years.
