Item Description
Beautiful quality door handle set; to include a bell pull, door knobs and a single escutcheon. This fine example dates to the late 1800's and is cast in a heavy golden and rose brass. A highly decorative floral roundel features on both the handles and bell pull, with the same coppery motif on the front of the escutcheon. On each handle the back plates have recessed screw holes, which are covered once installed. Supplied with an original classic square bar spindle they are suitable for installation with mortice or latch fittings. The brass foundry name E R CROMBIE is stamped to the reverse side of each piece. This set would have originated from a very grand house.
Condition: Very good. All items have been fully restored, the bell pull has a new spring and washer fitted and is for use with a tight wire non-electrical bell system, (please email should you require assistance finding these parts and I'll be happy to assist). One of the handles has had a new set of 3 holes drilled, this is hidden on installation as the back plate cover screws down to conceal it. Each piece has been hand polished and they are unlacquered therefore a gentle clean with brass polish occasionally with maintain this level of shine.
Dimensions: Bell pull diameter: 5 1/4"/133mm, Handle diameter: 60mm, Handle backplate diameter: 55mm, Escutcheon: 62mm x 30mm, Keyhole length: 26mm.
