Item Description
Description: An original, quality English antique doorstop/porter. This fine example is in polished brass and was manufactured in the 19th Century by William Tonks & Sons, who supplied brassware to Liberty of London. The axe head shaped loop handle has a chamfered socle and the base comprises of a stepped bell shape, with a rounded bottom mould. At the back is the original cast iron loading which has the makers mark stamp WT&S. A great heavy weighted door stop, with a decorative long, elegant rope twist stem.
Condition: Excellent. The brass has been hand polished and is unlacquered, therefore a gentle polish occasional will be needed to maintain this level of shine.
