Item Description
A charming and authentic 19th Century French provincial wall-mounted farinière or flour box.
Hand-crafted in pine and richly patinated with age. The front panel is decorated with two naïvely carved fish, reflecting its traditional use in rural kitchens for flouring fish before cooking. The shaped crest with pierced scrolling detail and original hanging aperture exemplifies rustic folk craftsmanship of the late 19th Century. Brittany, Circa 1870.
Retaining excellent colour and honest wear, this decorative and functional piece makes a wonderful accent for a country kitchen or French farmhouse interior.
