Item Description
A small, early 19th century, pearlware jug decorated in silver resist lustre. This jug is very lightly potted, it is English and it dates from c.1820. The geometric design was painted onto the jug using oils and it was then dipped into the silver lustre glaze. The oils resisted the glaze so the design showed through in the base colour of the jug, hence the name silver resist lustre. There is a very tiny chip to the spout and a further one to the rim but otherwise the jug is in very good condition.
