Item Description
A late nineteenth century, French copper, creme reneversee pan and cover. This type of pan was used for making the likes of creme caramel, where the caramel would first be melted on the stove and the the egg mix would go into the pan and the pan would go into the over to bake to a setting point. This would then be turned out to serve, with the caramel on the top. However, they are also very useful for other types of baked puddings. This example is made from quite a heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1890. Both the pan and the lid are stamped with a number “14” which relates to the diameter in centimetres. It has flat strap handles to the sides and an acorn shaped, brass finial to the lid. It is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.
Dimensions: Depth of pan 9.6cm. Height including the lid 11.8cm. Diameter of pan 14.3cm. Width across the handles 19.3cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
