Item Description
An early 19th century, polychrome decorated, Dutch Delft plate. This is marked, to the reverse, with a monogram “AK” hand painted in blue. Although these initial were used by Adrianus Kocks, on 17th century Delftware, due to the popularity of the potter the monogram was frequently copied and this piece would date from c.1820. It is boldly decorated, in shades of blue, green, manganese, iron red and ochre, with a strange, stylised basket of flowers. The border consists of alternating floral and geometric patterns. The plate is in very good condition.
Dimensions: Diameter 23.6cm. Depth 3.5cm.
