Description
A large vintage Persian Mahal handwoven carpet with an all-over floral composition on a rich red ground. Stylised palmettes, rosettes and scrolling foliage are worked in cream, dark blue, pale blue, green and salmon pink.
The field is framed by a broad cream border decorated with intertwining floral motifs, enclosed by narrower patterned guard borders. Pale fringes finish the short ends. Without a central medallion, the repeating floral design extends across the full field.
Condition
Good condition with some even, age-related wear. Please see photographs.
