Story: Inspired by a traditional Sussex country chair, Philip Webb designed the iconic Sussex chair around 1860. Featuring a distinctive turned frame and rush seat, it became a massive commercial success, produced in large quantities from roughly 1865 until the 1920s. Inspired by a simpler, pre-industrial past, this Morris and Co. classic was a sensation in its time and remains a defining icon of the Arts and Crafts movement.
