18th Century Hand Carved Life Size Corpus Christi Skull
A rare Lifesize religious artifact of which we have never seen the like. Carved from pine wood with hand painted detail. This artifact would have originally sat at the base of a large Corpus Christi statue. The top of the skull (cranium) opens to reveal a small concave space and is supported by a cast iron hinge at the rare. The base shows where it would have been nailed to the base. It’s the share size of this example that makes it so unique and special.
