Item Description
A super quality, early 19th century, Wedgwood dark blue, jasper dip bough pot and cover. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it is also impressed with the number ”174’ which could relate to a pattern book number. It dates from c.1820. The vase is decorated, in white relief, with swags of fabric which hang from loops and there are various foliate and geometric borders. The pierced lid has a very attractive finial in the shape of two doves. All of the reliefs are excellent quality, as would be expected of a piece from this period, and the jasper dip is a rich shade of blue. There is a very small chip to the rim, which is visible in the image of the lid, and there are also two firing faults in one of the shorter swags. Otherwise it is in good condition.
Dimensions: Height 21cm. Width 13.8cm. Diameter 11.2cm.
