Item Description
A lovely quality, late 19th century, French copper, oval casserole. This is marked ”VILLEDIEU MARQUE DEPOSSE” within a cross. This is the registered trade mark of Villedieu and the casserole dates from c.1890. It is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and has castellated seams around the base and up the side. The copper has a slightly planished finish and the piece has the attractive, French form of brass handles to the sides and also to the lid. It is in excellent condition and the interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.
Dimensions: Length of casserole 30cm. Width 19.3cm. Depth 12.5cm. Overall length including the handles 38.7cm. Overall height including the handle 15cm.
