Item Description
A lovely quality, 19th century, steel bread knife with a carved wooden handle. The steel blade is marked “WILLIAM WEBSTER SYCAMORE WORKS” and to the side of this is a deers head with antlers. William Webster was a high quality cutler at the Sycamore Works in Sheffield from 1846 to 1866 and this knife would date from c.1860. The handle is beautifully carved, in fruitwood, with lily of the valley. The piece is in excellent condition with just a tiny amount of pitting to the blade.
Dimensions: Length 31.2cm. Width of blade 2.6cm. Diameter of handle 3cm.
