Item Description
An early 20th century, steel cleaver in the shape of a swan. This is stamped “GNADENBERG” and there are also a number of other numbers and letters, “05”, “A&R”, an “M” which has been over struck and “38”. There must have been a workshop in Gnadenberg, which is a small German town south of Nuremberg, where these items were made as we have had a very similar one in the past. The steel blade is nicely shaped and the piece dates from c.1925. It has a very simple, carved wooden handle which is attached by steel rivets. There is pitting to the steel, from use, but otherwise it is in very good condition.
Dimensions: Length 35.2cm. Height 14cm. Width of handle 1.6cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A add £30. Most of Western Europe add £10.
