Item Description
A large, and quite unusual, French copper baking dish. This is unusual in that it has steel bands under the base so that it can be used in the bottom of a stove and won’t sit directly onto the base of the oven, thus allowing the heat to circulate. It is well made, from a very heavy gauge of copper, and has castellated seams around the base and up the side. It has folding copper handles to the ends and a rolled rim. It dates from c.1860 and is in very good condition. The interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.
