Item Description
A large pewter ice cream mould in the shape of a basket. This is marked, in the casting to both sides, “L.G”. This is the mark of the French company Letang and it dates from c.1890. The design is well detailed and this would probably have been made in ice and then topped with small fruits or flowers made from ice cream. To either side of the mould there are dark patches at one end. These are repairs which would have been done during the manufacture as there must have been a fault in the casting. The faults did not go through to the interior. Otherwise the mould is in very good condition and the interior is in extremely good, bright, usable condition.
Dimensions: Length 22cm. Width across the handles 17.2cm. Height 13.8cm.
