Item Description
A 19th century, dust pressed, Minton tile from the Shakespearian series. This is marked, in the casting, “MINTON’S CHINA WORKS, STOKE ON TRENT” and it dates from c.1880. It is printed, in brown on a beige background, with a scene from The Tempest, Act II, Scene II. This Shakespearian series was designed by Moyr Smith and the tile is signed “IMS” within the print. There is a very small chip to the top rim of the tile and a large chip to the reverse.
Dimensions: 15.2cm. square by 1cm. thick.
