Item Description
A good quality, pair of Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip candlesticks. These are both marked “WEDGWOOD” and they date from c.1840. Each stick is decorated, in white relief, with classical subjects, trees and foliage and they also have a variety of leaf borders. The reliefs are all very good quality. This shape of candlestick was made in much more limited production than the simple stick form with circular bases. These are in very good condition, with no cracks, chips or restoration. However, one of the sticks has sagged in the kiln and this gives it a slight lean which you can see in the images. There is also a very small patch, on the rim of one, where the dip colour has not covered fully and this is also from the manufacture.
Dimensions: Height 17cm. Width at base 10.5cm.
