Item Description
An unusual, rectangular, sycamore bread or butter board. This may have been for bread, and it has obviously been used for cutting bread due to the knife marks to both the face and the reverse, but it is most likely that its’ original purpose was as a butter board, for patting the butter into shape. It is English and it dates from c.1860. The sloping ends are nicely carved with overlapping leaf shapes. There is slight wear to the carving but the board is in very good condition and the wood has a lovely pale patina.
Dimensions: Length 30.5cm. Width 20cm. Depth 2cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £25. Most of Western Europe add £12.
