Item Description
A Wedgwood yellow and black jasperware jug. This is marked “WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND” and it dates from c.1920. It is also impressed with the number “48” which would be a batch number. This colour combination is very attractive and was only produced in limited quantities. The white stoneware body is dipped in a matt yellow glaze and then the body of the jug is decorated, in black relief, with a continuous band of classical maidens offering sacrifices. To the rim of the jug is a border of grapes and vines. There is a piece of relief missing from one of the maidens dresses but it is a flat slither from the top so it doesn’t’ show well in the images. Otherwise the jug is in very good condition.
Dimensions: Height 9.5cm. Width 9cm. Diameter 6.3cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
