Item Description
A beautiful large sandstone garden bench seat constructed from reclaimed sandstone, dating to circa 1860.
The large 63inch long sandstone has a wonderful character with dressed edge and Chiselled Seat surface giving the piece it unique character.
The large sandstone flag sits on two short pillars which feature the original Stonemason’s chisel marks that shaped these over a 160 years ago. The sandstone is naturally weathered to a lovey patina and would fit into an established garden or provide age to a newly formed garden.
The piece is free standing but would benefit form professional installation by a Landscape Gardener or Builder using mortar to securely fix the pieces in place and an adequate foundation to hold the weight.
Please note that the overall height of 54cm (21.25 inch) is the maximin height, the finished installed height could be lowered to allow the sandstone to be bedded into the ground. Alternatively the bolster plinth feet could be turned on their side to reduce the overall height by around 8cm (3 inch) making the overall height 46cm (18.25 inch).
