Item Description

1910's Rare Mixed Set Bentwood Dining Chairs - Set Of Eight. Founded in the early 19th Century by Michael Thonet, Thonet invented the process of steam bending wood under pressure and used this to design the classic bentwood chairs still in production today. In the 19th Century he had a large network of shops throughout Europe and was a huge furniture retailer. This is a simple elegant mixed set of very early chairs, some by Thonet, some by Mundus. The chairs have a very rich colour and character and are in exceptional condition. The chairs have the distinctive single bar back with two tone or stamped seats. The chairs have been gently refurbished in our own workshops and are in excellent working condition. The chairs are made in the classic bentwood style of early Thonet pieces.

Seat Height: 47cm
