Item Description
1950's Blonde Farmhouse Chair With Framed Seat - Small Batch Available.
The process of steam bending beech to create elegant chairs was discovered and developed by Thonet, but when its patents expired in 1869 many companies including Luterma launched production. Luterma was one of the brands marketed by Estonian factory A.M. Luther which was founded in the late 19th Century in Tallinn. Luthers production was principally in Estonia but they also had factories in France for local market production. At the time of the Bauhaus movement Walter Gropius and Marcel Breuer worked with the factory to develop various models. These chairs date from the 1950s, a simple classic farmhouse shape with a beautiful colour and defined backs. We service and rejuvenate each chair before it leaves our workshop and we deliver chairs of excellent quality. The chairs are not stamped Luterma but we have seen many of the same model stamped, so we are fairly confident. Seat Height 45cm.
Workshop Report:
Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
