Item Description
1950’s French Luterma Cross Base Bentwood Dining Chairs.
The process of steam bending beech to create elegant chairs was discovered and developed by Thonet, but when its patents expired in 1869 many companies including Luterma launched production. Luterma was one of the brands marketed by Estonian factory A.M. Luther which was founded in the late 19th Century in Tallinn. These chairs date from the 1950’s, an unusual shape developed for use in Churches and public buildings. We love the slightly shaker look and the confident cross base. Not marked Luterma but we are confident they are. We service and wax each chair before it leaves our workshop and we deliver chairs of excellent quality.
Seat Height: 46cm.
We hold large stocks of original vintage chairs for private and commercial use. At time of listing we had 21 chairs in stock. The price listed is for one chair and you can order any quantity subject to the maximum available – for large orders please contact us for stock availability. Please note The Hoarde systems are unable to process multiple quantities, to purchase more than one chair please contact us.
Workshop Report:
Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
